Originally built in 1908, the Philadelphia Metropolitan Opera House has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972. The building had sat empty until 2017. After a 56 million dollar renovation, the opera house has received a new name, The Met Philadelphia.
One of the latest renovation projects on the North Broad Street corridor, Control Point Associates, Inc. was contracted to help bring life back to the deserted landmark by providing 3D laser scanning services, façade survey, and 3D modeling. Live Nation utilized the scans of the 100,000 square-foot entertainment complex to analyze the vantage points of the 3,500 theater seats.
Survey tasks include:
- 3D laser scanning
- 3D modeling
- Building façade survey
- 2d floor plans
- Building section, structural support, and reflected ceiling plans
- Topographic and roadway location survey
- ADA survey
- Lot consolidation plan
Other renovations of the space included a restored interior lobby including gold embellishments in the ceiling and chandeliers. The façade was completely rehabilitated to include the original arched arcades and flashing signs.
